yea those people … yea those people are called savants, but that is actually a really rare condition, and this kid does not have it, I can beat him with a TI-83 calculator.
Well, Actually, I … Well, Actually, I don’t think so, if you are professional at using one of those you get CRAZY fast, using an imaginary one has actually been faster than actually punching in numbers…
simple mathematics … simple mathematics of this sort. its just something like rememberizing keys on your computer key board, except using multplication
OMFG!! They are … OMFG!! They are incredible! And my classmates says that I’m fast xD I can’t even plus the numbers faster than they multiplice them :S
I think it’s sad … I think it’s sad that us white people always say ‘Wow it’s because they’re asian” when we used to be the intellectual pioneers of the world -> Greece, Rome. I don’t know what’s come over us that we have to say ‘it’s because’ instead of ‘why can’t we’.
I like your … I like your skepticism.
But, just look around. Compare people who grew up doing more mental tasks than people that grew up in poor families that didn’t do a thing. People from Asian countries that did calculus at age 6 set their brains to a higher standard..so..my buddy who did that who is now 21 thinks even the MCAT is a joke.compared to Americans who have trouble with it. It’s consistent, and usually an accepted rule that brain development before age 12 is crucial…
The schools don’t … The schools don’t teach this just so they can learn math. It’s for brain development, creating a capacity that allows them to have bigger capacities for knowledge as they get older : )
This is truly … This is truly amazing because it displays the capacity and speed that the mind is capable of.
However, there is more to life other than making super fast calculations. Computers were developed so that everyone could have the convenience of super fast results without years of training that way we could do other things.
Amazing, this is a … Amazing, this is a perfect example of how much knowledge a brain can store especially at the younger age and the speed to adapt to different areas. Basically you can say that the most people in the world is “lazy”, most of us reject knowledge unless its within our interests/school/job (you get the point).
12 years old with the speed of counting ‘basic’ numbers faster than the most math teachers at university level.
By the way, whats the correct name of the boards that they use?
Look at what … Look at what determination the students of Japan bring to show the world, not just Japan, but in this case I will say Japan. Compare this to most schools in the US, they seem to take school and it’s learning opportunities for granted. If those students had the determination of the Japanese students, I am most certain their academic standing in the world CAN rise.
