My kids love webkinz. You have to purchase a webkinz stuffed animal to get the code for the website but they are about $11-14 and they get a virtual pet to care for and there are a TON of kid-friendly games, a place called Quizzies that they can earn webkinz $ by answering questions on art/literature, math, science, etc. And the best part is that a parent can lock the chat feature so it is completely safe! http://www.webkinz.com

I have had good experiences with noggin.com ; nick.jr. and pbskids.org. Both of my boys (ages 7 & 4) can play on these sites. So far I haven't seen anything objectional or inappropriate on any of these.

Sesame Street, Noggin, and Nick Jr. all have websites that offer different activities for children that age.

This is an AWESOME website for children. My 4 year old son loves the musical memory turtle and the roaring dinosaurs. Check it out!
