I’ve tried to relate a number of 9′s to some meaningful number, such as the number of this year, 2009. I intend to let people appreciate the very simple tool of mathematics, which can show their myriad of changes of use. This problem is only a vehicle to give people the taste of the skill of higher order thinking, while solving Math problems.

Let Log2(9) bea log with base equal to:
    sqt(sqt(9))

Log2(9)= 4 as in the video

I can do this with …
I can do this with six 9′s.

Let Log11(9) be a log with base equal to:
    sqt(sqt(sqt(sqt(sqt(sqt(sqt(sqt(sqt(sqt(sqt(9))))))))))))

    Thus Log11(9) = 2048

    Thanks for the video challenge!

    I offer: 999+999 = 2009 – 20

Only 6 nines used, and the number 2009 is still unique!
    (Hehe, I think I may have cheated…;)

    Cheers, Rick
